Wang Guangyao is a research librarian at the Palace Museum and executive director of the Chinese Archaeology Society.

He has long been committed to research on ceramic archaeology, court rules and regulations, and Sino-foreign cultural exchanges. Participated in the archaeological excavation of the imperial kiln site in the Ming and Qing dynasties of Jingdezhen, the Yuan and Ming porcelain kiln site in Liyang Township, Jingdezhen, the late Ming Dynasty porcelain kiln site in Guanyin Pavilion in Jingdezhen, the Yuan and Ming Dynasty porcelain kiln site in Xin'anbei Metallurgical Yuan porcelain kiln site in Xin'anbei, Henan Province, the original celadon kiln site in Huoshaoshan, Deqing, Zhejiang Province, and the Ming Dynasty glazed kiln site in Qingtang Village, Danjiangkou City, Hubei Province. He also participated in the cooperative archaeological excavation and research on Chinese cultural relics unearthed at the Kenya Ram Islands ruins, the Port of Putnam and Quilon Ports in India, and the Zulfa ruins in the UAE. He excavated the imperial blue and white porcelain and Longquan celadon from the Yongle period of the Ming Dynasty in China for the first time in the Arab region, and found archaeological evidence for the Zheng He delegation to the Las Haima area.

He planned and presided over the "Qing Dynasty Imperial Kiln Porcelain Exhibition", "The Unearthed Jingde Imperial Kiln Site and the Ming Dynasty Imperial Kiln Porcelain Series Handicrafts of the Palace Museum", and "Longquan, Longquan, Longquan and International Exhibitions in the World".

He has published dozens of research articles of various types, including "Ancient Chinese Official Kiln System" (2004, Forbidden City Publishing House), "There are Such Rules in the Palace" (2008, Forbidden City Publishing House), "History of Palace Ceramics in the Ming Dynasty" (2010, Forbidden City Publishing House), and "Ancient Chinese Official Kiln System (II)" (2017, Forbidden City Publishing House).
