About the Speaker:
Hongen Jiang is the Deputy Director, Tenured Professor, and Doctoral Supervisor of the Department of Archaeology and Anthropology, School of Humanities, University of Chinese Academy of Sciences. His research focuses on archaeobotany and the history of botany. In recent years, he has been dedicated to studying the agricultural activities and plant use of ancient people along the Silk Road, as well as the information on East-West cultural exchange contained therein, by integrating plant remains and unearthed documents. He has published more than 100 papers and 1 monograph, and has presided over projects such as the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the National Social Science Foundation of China, and the National Key Research and Development Program. In 2016, he won the "Youth Scholar Award (Golden Goblet Award)" of the Archaeological Society of China, in 2019, he won the "Zhu Liyuehua Outstanding Teacher Award" of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and in 2021, he won the "Tang Lixin Outstanding Scholar Award" of the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences. He was selected as an "EIsevier Highly Cited Chinese Scholar" in 2019.
