Kirie Stromberg is a Postdoctoral Researcher at Yale University. Her primary research interests lie in the early East Asian music culture and intellectual history, with a particular focus on the interplay between musical practices and the formation of complex societies in East Asia, as well as the foundational musical thought in East Asia as revealed in early texts. She has made significant scholarly contributions to the fields of music archaeology and art history, and her proposed methodology for archaeological research on musical instruments has provided an innovative paradigm for archaeological studies. She has participated in fieldwork excavations at the Neolithic site of Yangguanzhai in Shaanxi, China, and has conducted research in multiple locations across Shaanxi and Shanxi provinces. Her dissertation, "Music and Political Authority in Early China and Japan: A Comparative Study of Prehistoric to Protohistoric Periods," was awarded a Fulbright-Hays Doctoral Dissertation Research Abroad Fellowship by the U.S. Department of Education.
