Speaker: CHEN Xi, Associate Professor (School of History and Culture, Nanjing Normal University)

Host: ZHANG Zhengwei, Assistant Research Fellow (Center for Archaeological Sciences, Sichuan University)

Abstract:

Animal remains possess both cultural and natural attributes, enabling their use in reconstructing ancient societies, restoring past environments, and even studying human-environment interactions. This lecture will focus on the distributional changes of wild animals during the Holocene, analyzing the process by which human activities have reshaped ecological landscapes. It will also explore the critical role of excavated bones in reconstructing zoogeography and discuss the primary research methods of historical zoogeography.
