Abstract:
The Pabbaragala site, located in the Giribawa area of Kurunegala, North Western Province, Sri Lanka, is the most renowned glass bead production site of the early historic period in Sri Lanka. Since 2024, the Center for Archaeological Sciences at Sichuan University, in collaboration with the University of Kelaniya, the Department of Archaeology of Sri Lanka, the Chengdu Municipal Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology, and the Sichuan Provincial Cultural Relics and Archaeology Research Institute, has conducted two seasons of Sino-Sri Lankan joint archaeological excavations at this site. This lecture will present the discoveries, findings, and multidisciplinary reflections from the 2025 season of the Sino-Sri Lankan joint excavation at the Pabbaragala site.
