1. Personal profile

Li Haichao, male, born in June 1988, native of Chifeng, Inner Mongolia. He obtained a bachelor's degree and master's degree from the Department of Archaeology of Wuhan University, a doctorate from the School of Archaeology and Arts of Peking University, a doctorate jointly trained by Oxford University, and a visiting scholar at Harvard University. In 2016, he obtained a doctorate degree and joined Sichuan University. He was promoted to associate researcher in 2018 and promoted to professor in 2020. He is currently the director of the Cultural Relics Analysis Laboratory of the National Archaeology Experimental Teaching Center of Sichuan University. The courses offered include: Chinese Archaeology II (Shang and Zhou Archaeology), Chinese Bronze Artifacts, Introduction to Cultural Relics Analysis, Experimental of Cultural Relics, Science and Technology Archaeology, Introduction to Field Archaeology, Field Excavation Internship, Field Survey Internship, etc.

He has rich experience in field archaeology. In addition to Henan, Hubei, Shaanxi, Anhui, Yunnan, Sichuan and other places, he also traveled overseas to carry out archaeological work in Sri Lanka, Laos and Japan. He serves as the person in charge of excavation of sacrificial pits No. 5, 6 and 7 in Sanxingdui.

The research directions are mainly Shang and Zhou archaeology and scientific and technological archaeology. They are committed to comprehensive archaeology and scientific and technological methods, and discuss the production and circulation of various resources from the perspective of resources and society, center and surroundings, trade and exchange. Currently, we are trying to introduce various technical means such as pottery technology analysis, metallurgical archaeology, ancient DNA analysis, isotope analysis, plant archaeology, etc. based on archaeological analysis to build all-round information of archaeological culture and explore new paths to interpret archaeological culture.

So far, he has published more than 30 papers in important domestic and international academic journals, published two monographs, and presided over major projects of the National Social Science Fund, key projects, excellent doctoral thesis publishing project, Ministry of Education projects, China Postdoctoral Research Fund special funding, comprehensive funding, and many other cooperative projects. In 2021, he was selected as the "Double Hundred Talent Project" of Sichuan University, and in 2019 he was qualified as the "Architecture Excavation Project Leader" and also won the top ten news figures of "Touching Sichuan University" in 2021, the Sichuan University Youth May Fourth Medal, the Sichuan University Youth Social Science Star Award, the Peking University Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation Award, and the Li Ji Archaeology Award. The "Sichuan University Sanxingdui Site Archaeology Team" led by him won the 25th "Sichuan Youth May Fourth Medal". He serves as a director of the Sichuan Archaeology Society and a member of the Frontier Archaeology Professional Committee of the Chinese Archaeology Society. Reviewers of international journals "Archaeometry" and "Heritage Science".
